    Starting the EMBA journey could be one of the good answers, but why Aalto?


     

    如何保持公司的競爭力,如何為公司做出更好的決策,一直都是我心中的課題,是我渴望追求的答案。
    我是Alex CHEN,在FIME擔任電子支付行業領先的支付顧問和認證合作夥伴,是負責臺灣和亞太地區的業務和銷售總監。

    在過去12年中,一路從工程、FAE、科技行銷到業務總監,在角色職能上除了有強烈責任與期望之外,這段業務旅程也對專業知識、問題解決和創新能力提出了强烈的挑戰,也在提高銷售/收入層面,思考如何保持永續的競爭力。

    在加入Aalto之前,我很難用自己的個人觀點來管理這些話題,這些話題可能是局部的,沒有完整的觀點,也缺乏其他的參考標準來應對你的商業挑戰、管理商業競爭,更需要戰略思維模式評估公司定位的方法等等,這些話題隨著日常商務的進行,在腦海中變得神秘起來,雖然公司仍然運轉良好,但這些話題都成了問號和內心的聲音,提醒我要找出答案。

    開始EMBA之旅可能是一個很好的解答,但為什麼是Aalto?

    經過長時間的調查,Aalto完美的符合我的標準,能讓我在本地兼顧工作和課程,利用週末時間與其他同學在本地上課,而課程和教授卻可以橫跨全球,而芬蘭高度信任的教育體系,具有多重認證(AACSB,AMBA,馬…等)和有趣的峰會計畫,在新加坡或赫爾辛基打造校園課程,這些使我終於點燃引擎啟動。

    整個學習過程就像被一輛卡車撞了一樣,在兩年的時間裏產生了非常正面的影響。透過瞭解自己與他人的看法之間的差異,瞭解其中的差距和反思也能幫助我們與他人進一步互動。組織行為課程有助於分析人們背後行為的含義和各種類型的溝通管道,能提高生產力。戰略管理是EMBA中最好的課程之一,我們探討了哈佛的案例研究方法更涵蓋了各種真實的商業案例,包括大巨人,例如特斯拉,三星,Zara,HTC,LG…等,進一步去瞭解公司的定位和如何評估風險與價值,探討為什麼失敗,以及如何保持長期可持續性和競爭力的多重視角。

    最後但最重要的一點是,領導變革課程在不同的案例研究中帶來了令人印象深刻的學習,並展演了如何領導組織改革,然後透過自己的故事來思考改革要如何用權力的來源、影響的來源、人們的心態和行動的心理去實現。
    商業類比則是以模擬身為首席執行官或地區經理的身份結束EMBA課程。去探討如何營運公司並在10年內成長,這是一項明確的業務活動,需要考慮到市場需求、戰略規劃、公司定位、目標市場領域、解決方案構建、資源規劃、收入估算,銷售預測、交貨計畫、稅務和財務管理以及如何評估公司和股東的價值……等等,是一個具有啟發又緊張的課程,也讓團隊成員能與其他團隊競爭比賽,是一種演練的實作練習,也為Aalto EMBA課程帶來最難忘的回憶。

    最後,透過Aalto峰會計畫,我們可以在一周內與來自芬蘭、波蘭、新加坡、臺灣等地的學生見面,體驗不同的課程,享受堅定的時光,並擴展我們的人際網絡,更從未預料到在社交時刻,能共同創造驚喜的商業火花。

    Starting the EMBA journey could be one of the good answers, but why Aalto?

     

    How to keep company competitive and how to make better decision for company are often questions in my mind as a quest to seize.

    My name is Alex CHEN, working in FIME as a leading payment consultant and certification partner in e-payment industry, and in charge of business and sales director for Taiwan and APAC region.

    Over past 12 years experiencing from engineering, FAE, technical marketing to business director in terms of role functions, besides the responsibility expectation is there in one side, this business journey also gives strong challenges to professional knowledge, problem solving, better sales/revenue and how to keep sustainably competitive in another side.

    Before join Aalto, I hardly manage those topics by own personal view which could be partial without full outlook, also lacking of other references as benchmarking to your business challenges, the way of managing business competition, the way of strategic thinkings, and the way of evaluating company positioning …etc, these topics become mysterious in mind alone with daily business life going, though company still running fine, but all of those topics become question mark and inside voices reminding me to seize for the answers.

    Starting the EMBA journey could be one of the good answers, but why Aalto?

    After long survey, Aalto present perfectly to my criteria, allow me to manage work and course in local, weekend time to attend class with classmate locally while the course and professors can be globally, Finland highly trusted education system with multi accreditations(AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS...etc) and interesting summit program to meet up other campus people in SG or in Helsinki, these make me finally ignite the engine to move.

    The whole learning journey is like big hit by a truck, a very positive impact in 2 years time. Surprisely from knowing yourself and knowing difference in between your own view and perception by others, thru there to know the gaps and reflection can help more on further interactions with others too. Organization behavior learning module help analyze the meaning behind the people behavior and various type of communication way to improve enhance productivity. Strategic management is one of the best modules in EMBA, Harvard’s case study approach covering various real business cases including big giant, ex: Tesla, samsung, Zara, HTC, LG...etc, to understand company positioning and how to assess the risk, to value the values and to know why failed and how to keep long turn sustainable and competitive in multiple viewpoints.

    Last but not least, the leading change module given a impressive guidance in different case study and demonstrate how to lead organization to change, and then take your own story to ponder how the change could be, thru source of power, source of influence, people mindset and psychology to move.

    Business simulation to end up the EMBA program in the way as CEO or country manager to operate the company and to grow in 10 years view, a definite exercise as daily business life to take into account market demand, strategic planning, company positioning, target market sector, solution build up, resources planning, revenue estimation, sales forecast, delivery schedule, tax and financial management and how to evaluate company and shareholders value...etc, a eliciting and nervous module to go thru with team members to compete other teams for a race, an empirical exercise leading an unforgettlable memory to Aalto EMBA program.

    Lastly, networking is giving a big chance to broaden the channel to meet people across industries, different insights also from different countries, thanks to Aalto summit program, where we can meet up students from Finland, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan...etc in whole week to experience different modules and enjoy stoical times, some additional business sparking are often came up from that social moment you never expect.

    Again, thanks to Aalto EMBA program, upgrading not only on business life but also help us to be a better person, and facilitate us to build better life for other people and create better society.
